Steel before software

I started as a structural engineer at Chiyoda, working on oil and gas plants. I kept writing code to speed up the calculations, until writing the code became the job.

  • 20+in-house tools built for structural design and reports
  • Earthquake Resistant Award at IDEERS in Taiwan, as team leader. Our model survived every test.

The switch to iOS

At a disaster risk reduction hackathon backed by Google and the US Department of State, I built an iOS app that lets an engineer assess a building's structural integrity on site. Local governments in the Philippines later got a version of their own.

  • 2ndplace, TechCamp Hackathon 2014
  • Then Insynchq, building Rolls: a photo app on top of Google Drive.

Dubai

Two agencies and a run of client apps across the Gulf, from banking to cars to home cleaning.

  • Emirates NBD, the number one banking app in the UAE
  • Mercedes-Benz for Emirates Motor Company: service booking and tracking
  • Matic, on-demand home cleaning in Dubai
  • Employee apps for HRDF and Olayan Group in Saudi Arabia

RideAustin

A non-profit rideshare built for Austin, Texas. I led the mobile team at Crossover, from iOS Software Architect to Mobile Chief Software Architect. Same years: BiznessApps, an app-building platform later acquired by BuildFire.

  • 1.7Mrides in the first year
  • $200,000raised for local charities

DNB Mobilbank

I joined the team that built the mobile bank for Norway's largest bank from the ground up. It is now DNB's main platform.

  • Brought in Lokalise for localization. First in the mobile teams, now used everywhere in DNB.

From the data room to AWS

I moved to server-side and took the infrastructure with me. There was no platform team, so I did that work too.

  • Designed the Mac build servers used by every iOS team in DNB, then moved them from a physical data room to AWS
  • Migrated the services behind accounts, cards, insurance and payments from on-prem to AWS
  • Moved the Firebase and Dynatrace related services to AWS

Jenkins to GitLab to GitHub

Two CI/CD migrations across iOS and server-side, while leading product teams as Tech Lead. The move to GitHub Actions cut costs, tightened security and opened the door to AI tooling.

  • Moved iOS and server-side from Jenkins to GitLab pipelines
  • Led the server-side move from GitLab to GitHub Actions
  • Contributed migration tooling and docs to the GitHub team, which eased the move for other teams
  • Pioneered Develocity for build caching and analytics on Android and server-side

Faster with AI, for everyone

As Staff Engineer I'm architecting DNB's new mortgage solution for mobile and web, and bringing GitHub Copilot and Claude into daily work for developers and non-developers alike.

  • 80+developers across 6+ teams use the Claude code review setup I built
  • Introduced Claude Code and agentic workflows to the team
  • Set up CI/CD so colleagues who don't work in a terminal can use AI tools too
